Overview – The 2017 National Scout Jamboree will be July 18th – 28th at the
new Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. This will mark the second time in our history that the Jamboree will be
held on property owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. The National Scout Jamboree only happens every four
years so for many Scouts they only get one chance to go. This Jamboree will be unlike any other in so many ways that
you have to visit the website to get the full details. http://www.summitbsa.org/events/jamboree/overview/
Why attend Jamboree? – To have the greatest Scouting experience of your life with 40,000 of your
closest friends! There is whitewater rafting, mountain biking, BMX racing, a skateboard park, shooting sports of all
shapes and sizes, ziplines, challenge courses, rappelling, climbing, hiking, SCUBA, and concerts, not to mention the
best patch trading at any Scouting event. You can earn some merit badges, meet new friends from around our Council
and from across the country. You don’t want to miss this once-in-a-Scouting-lifetime event!
How much does it cost to attend? Full Cost to attend Jamboree is $1600. A $150
deposit will hold you one of only 72 spots. This can be broken down into monthly payments around $100, depending on
when you officially register. This fee includes, but is not limited to: Jamboree fee, transportation, food, and
limited edition Jamboree gear. We plan to send two Jamboree Troops in 2017. Each Jamboree Troop is made up of 36
Scouts from all over the council and 4 adult leaders.
Who is eligible to attend? Any scout who hasn’t yet turned 18 years old before July 29, 2017
but has to be at least 12 years old and First Class by July 17, 2017. More info: http://www.summitbsa.org/events/jamboree/participants/
