Unit Service – The Plan and the People

Unit service is one of the four important functions of every local council, the others being membership, finance, and program. Youth experience Scouting in units. Generally, the “healthier” the unit, the more wonderful things will happen for youth in Scouting. To help this occur, the Boy Scouts of America provides a program called unit service in which the commissioner is the key figure. The commissioner helps chartered organizations and the leaders of their units achieve the objectives of Scouting. The primary objective is to make good Scouting happen in the lives of youth members.

2019 Recharters are Due December 8, 2018

Re-charter information will be emailed to the unit key three on October 1, 2018. Early turn in will be during the October, November and December Roundtables. The last day will be December 8, 2018. All Commissioners should place special emphasis during this time to ensure their units submit their re-charters through the “Internet Re-charter process”, verifying that information is correct and locating those things that might derail the successful posting of the unit’s re-charter before the lapse date. The Internet Re-chartering Tool may be found when signing on to an individual my.scouting.org account.
