"THUNDER IN THE VALLEY" - AIR SHOW
"Thunder in the Valley" is Chattahoochee Council's air show. Our annual air show attracts visitors from all parts of the Chattahoochee Valley area. From acrobatics, parachute teams, fly-bys of all types of aircraft, to static displays of vintage planes, there is something for all aviation enthusiasts. Too, we feature our Scouting units in "Scouts Alley" where our Scouts have an opportunity to demonstrate their unit's skills, accomplishments, and activities.
COUNCIL ENCAMPMENT
Our Council encampment is held every two years and provides an opportunity for our Scouting units to gather and share in activities, challenges and events. At our encampment Scouts enjoy meeting, working, and having fun with fellow Scouts from units through out our fifteen county area.
NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE
Scouting's largest event takes place every four years at Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia and the Chattahoochee Council sponsors a contingent to attend this premier event. Contingent Scouts participate in hundreds of activities, everything from rappelling, to snorkeling, shotgun shooting to ecology. At Merit Badge Midway, Scouts may choose to work on several of over 6o different Merit Badges. Arena shows feature top name performers from the entertainment industry. At Jamboree you can see everything that Scouts do - and everything that Scouting is - all in one place.
ORDER OF THE ARROW
The Order of the Arrow recognizes Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. The Order promotes Scout camping through out our council.

PHILMONT
Each year the High Adventure Committee of the Council sponsors a Philmont Contingent. Each contingent is made up of one to three crews of ten Scouts or Venturers each from various Council units. Crews train for the challenges they will face at Scouting's high adventure base in the rugged New Mexico wilderness. Treks through the backcountry usually consist of 14 days, 4 days of travel to and from the base and 10 days in the backcountry.
SEABASE

When you think about Scouting and Venturing you think about the woods and camping. The Boy Scouts of America has always been about getting young people outdoors and into the wilderness. And when you think about the wilderness, you think about Oak and Elm trees, deer and bear, eagles and owls.
But there's another wilderness that encompasses far more of the world's space and that most people will never see. That's the wilderness under the ocean. Only there can you see Fan Coral and Sea Grass, sting rays and manatees, sharks and jewfish. And that's the wilderness that Scouts and Venturers will explore only at Sea Base.
No trails for hiking here. You'll trade your hiking boots for dive fins, your glasses for a dive mask, and you'll be breathing through a snorkel or regulator. And with all this you'll become a guest in a wilderness most people will only ever read about. The undersea wilderness! And that's high adventure!
You'll learn hobbies that will last a lifetime. In addition to snorkeling or scuba diving, the Florida Keys is the sport fishing capital of the world. You'll do all of this in one of America's most pristine and beautiful places, the Florida Keys. It's a unique ecosystem and home to North America's only living coral reef!
This is an adventure that few in our area have had the opportunity to experience. So sign aboard, and experience a world most have only dreamt about.
