Groundbreaking ceremonies for Fort Bradshaw were held Sunday afternoon, November 14, 2004 at Camp Lumpkin.
Fort Bradshaw is named in honor of Grady "Chief" Bradshaw, a former Scout Executive with the George H. Lanier Council, which is now part of the Chattahoochee Council. Council President Edmund Glover hosted the ceremony and spoke fondly of "Chief" Bradshaw, as did Executive Board member Judge Doug Pullen, who was instrumental in presenting the concept and initial funding for the project.
Fort Bradshaw will become a central part of our council's Scouting program. The area will benefit all aspects of Scouting and outside groups too. The multi-use meeting facility will be just the place for our Cub Scouts to enjoy camping and program events. It will provide meeting space and a training area for our adult leader training programs. Summer Camp Staff will also be housed here during Boy Scout summer camp.
