Outdoor Leader Skills

Outdoor Leader Skills

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills will provide adult leaders with the basic skills needed to start and conduct a successful outdoor program.   The skills taught at this course are based on the outdoor skills found in the Boy Scout Handbook ranging from Tenderfoot to First Class.   Participants will learn about fire building, cooking, campsites, knots/ropes, wood tools, map and compass, packing, hiking, Leave No Trace and more.  We will teach you how to teach your scouts!

WHO:  Scout Masters(SM), Assistant Scout Masters (ASM), Committee Members, and any adult leader who wants to learn about or refresh their outdoor skills.  Completion of this course is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters to be fully trained.  It is also the last chance to get this needed training for SMs and ASMs if you plan on attending the upcoming Wood Badge Course in September and November.
