WHAT IS NYLT?
The National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is a premiere youth leadership program for Boy Scouts and Venturers (male and females). NYLT is an intensive, fun, hands-on, and challenging week-long program that combines outdoor adventure and classroom instruction to provide Scouts and Venturers with experiences and tools to become great leaders in their home troop or crew. NYLT focuses on the concepts of what a leader must BE, what a leader must KNOW, and what a leader must DO. The skills learned at NYLT will benefit Scouts and Venturers not only as youth leaders but in other aspects of his life.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND NYLT? Participants should:
· Be a registered Boy Scout or Venturer (males & females)
· Be 13 years old (by 7/9/11) but not yet 21 (No exceptions)
· Be at least First Class in rank if a Boy Scout
· Have their Scoutmaster or Crew Advisor approval
· Be serving in, or about to serve in, a significant troop or crew leadership role—Senior Patrol Leader,
Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, Crew Officer. · Have good basic camping and outdoor skills
· Be willing to behave in accordance with the Scout/Venturer Oath and Scout Law at NYLT
· Be Prepared mentally, emotionally and physically to handle a week of NYLT
· Be in attendance for the entire period from Sunday, July 10th through Saturday, July 16.
· Have taken part in at least 1 (ideally 2+) weeks of camping
· Be a “credit” to their unit or crew—dedicated, conscientious, and responsible
· Wants to attend and actively participate in the course THE PLACES, DATES AND COSTS
The NYLT Course will be held at Camp F.G.L. near LaGrange, Georgia. Participants MUST attend all course activities during the week in order to complete the practical phase of the training. The course is open to the first 48 fully paid participants. The course fee includes all program materials, meals, lodging, one course t-shirt, neckerchief, patch and hat. Additional course t-shirts can be purchased.
Important Registration Dates:
· Early bird registration is $200 paid in full by May 16, 2011.
· After May 16, 2011, the cost of the course is $220 per participant.
· Registration deadline is June 10, 2011.
· Remember, space is limited to the first 48 Scouts/Venturers that are fully paid. REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Follow these steps to register for NYLT:
· Download the NYLT Registration Packet which includes the Participant Nomination Form, NYLT Personal Resource Questionnaire, and NYLT Statement of Understanding. Complete the forms along with needed signatures of youth, Scoutmaster/Crew Advisor, and Parent. Send in NYLT Registration Packet along with payment to the Chattahoochee Council office. · You can also pay online by clicking NYLT Online Registration. Please remember that you still need to send in the Registration Packet above with the required forms and appropriate signatures. · Detailed course information, required Medical Form, and packing list will be sent to each participant with their acceptance letter.
